Multi-talented performer (who has appeared on TV in 'Sharpe' and in National Theatre productions), whose powerful and memorable songs draw from tradition, yet address modern themes, and who masterminded a new series of Radio Ballads for the BBC. With a dry humour and relaxed between-song presence, and here appearing with the fine singer and keyboard player Coope (of Coope, Boyes and Simpson) he has deservedly won a clutch of BBC Folk Awards in recent years. So that's a review leeched from another site, and I fully agree with the 'powerful and memorable songs' bit, but the 'dry humour and relaxed between-song presence' was lost on me due to it being mostly incomprehensible! You'd have thought that someone with Tams's pedigree, longevity and experience would by now have learnt not to speak 'off-mike', or into his wine glass when taking a sip mid anecdote, or even from behind his mouth organ.Pity !!
