First up was the affable and strongly accented Damien Dempsey - sort of an Irish Proclaimer. Enjoyable and received by polite applause. Next up were "next big thing" (TM) Franz Ferdinand, who gave a strong, lively set that will have done them no harm whatsoever - their spikey and danceable loud guitars made a nice change. The band also managed to do spazzy Ian Curtis dancing whilst playing it, which looked good too. Catch them if they come your way. Come 9pm, cometh the Mozz - after an intro tape which was 5 minutes of a scouse voice reading a list of things Mozz hates "Fucking **** Thatcher..Neighbours..the Reverend Jimmy Swaggart...), he makes a triumphant return to the biggest indoor venue in his home-town. The peformance itself was pure Vegas, even down to the 12 foot high letters (se above) High camp and high emotion - the audience don't quite reach the same level of euphoria that I've seen in smaller venues where he's played, but there's serious worship going on. Highlights for me included "I have forgiven you Jesus" and the annoyingly catchy new song "Don't make fun of daddy's voice"
