Two local supports - Rachel Rimmer is a pretty young lady who's in a smooth jazz band with her dad.... Moving swiftly on, Scott Ashley bashes his 12 string earnestly and in there lurk some well-crafted pop songs. They just need someone with a voice with a bit more character and a full-band arrangement to bring them out. Amy MacDonald has lept into this week's top 20 at number 12 with her single "Mr. Rock'n'Roll" (Not as bad as it sounds, honestly) but her fame seems to have come a bit too quickly for sunny Stoke and the venue is just over half full. Despite this., Ms MacDonald and her enthusiastic band churn out some hook-filled country-tinged pop. She's not going to change the world, but for £4 on a Tuesday night, it's not bad.
