Hadn't heard much of their stuff, although I had the CD "Paint" filed away somewhere and forgotten about. Support act the Zincs (James Elkington on his own actually) gave us his own Elliot Smith with a deep voice thang, which was quite pleasant and was joined towards the end of the set by Janet Bean. Catherine Irwin came up for the last number in a spectacular beaver hat (you had to be there) The Freakwater gals gave a pleasant and likeable performance, if a little one-paced. Pleasant harmonies, unusual arrangements and warm onstage personas kept everyone engaged. The only song I can remember the title of, though, was their cover of "Ring of Fire". Gratifying, in a snoozy sort of way.
