Claude Diamond is, by my reckoning, 68 years young - a former school teacher, he's returned to the music making of his youth and has produced a pleasingly vibrant mix of country, blues and bluegrass (I'm sure someone could open a club with that mix of styles in its name..). Worryingly he seems to have very trembly hands, but it doesn't affect his playing or his repartee and he easily wins over the Sunday night crowd. Since seeing Heybale at the Continental Club earlier this year, there's only one person that we've come to see tonight. Dale Watson's name may be on the ticket, but it's that man Redd that half of EFSB have driven to see. Dale's not bad either, mind you...we're in bonus time before we start here. Dale Watson is mainly plugging his new CD "From the Cradle to the Grave" that he recorded in a cabin belonging to Johnny Cash. It's all good stuff, and the onstage banter and good humour throughout (it's the last night of the tour) makes this a memorable performance. Oh, and the fact that DW's dyed his hair jet black makes him look 20 years younger...
